This week, analysts from the EastFruit project report a sharp decline in prices for last year's white cabbage in Ukraine. The decrease is attributed to the rapid quality deterioration due to extended storage and low demand, both exerting pressure on prices.
Project specialists indicate that while prices reached up to 52 UAH/kg ($1.25/kg) before the weekend, they have now dropped to 40–48 UAH/kg ($0.96–1.15/kg), marking an average decrease of 10% compared to the end of the previous workweek.
Despite this reduction, the price for last year's cabbage in Ukraine is currently 6.4 times higher than during the same period last year. However, many market players anticipate a further decline in prices. They note that most Ukrainian producers face challenges in selling their stock, while the supply of early vegetables from farms across Ukraine is increasing daily.
