AGF Price Monitor week 18

Cucumber price differences remain small, while vine tomato prices vary significantly

AGF Monitor tracks weekly price trends of avocados, cauliflower, Galia melons, oranges, cucumbers, and vine tomatoes based on online data. Supermarktscanner.nl monitors prices at the end of each week. Market prices remain stable despite falling clock prices for vine tomatoes and cucumbers during this period. Notably, while there are significant price differences for vine tomatoes, the variations in cucumber prices are much smaller.

In week 18, there are no special offers on vine tomatoes, with prices remaining stable. The lowest price is at Dirk (1.29 euros for 500 grams), followed by Albert Heijn and Plus (1.35 euros), Vomar (1.55 euros), and DekaMarkt (1.75 euros), which is the most expensive.

Price and quality
The price data is collected from Supermarktscanner.nl, reflecting online prices from Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, DekaMarkt, Dirk, and Hoogvliet. Prices are average figures, including promotions, but do not take into account the origin or quality of the products. Most supermarkets do not specify these details online, though Hoogvliet and Jumbo do indicate the country of origin. Consequently, the comparison might include unripe and ripe avocados or Spanish and Dutch cucumbers.

Notes on the data
Vomar consistently uses fixed prices online. Since 2022, avocados have been missing from Vomar's online range, and since week 24, so have Galia melons. Oranges from Hoogvliet and Vomar are sold in 1.5 kg nets, but prices are adjusted to a 2 kg equivalent. Jumbo sells vine tomatoes in packs of five rather than by weight, and for comparison, a weight of 100 grams per tomato is assumed.
