Panafruit targets 200 papaya export containers

Panafruit SA, situated in San Juan del Tejar, Chiriquí, Panama, maintains a projection for papaya exports to the United States and Aruba, as reported by the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA). In 2025, the company exported 44 containers to the U.S. and eight to Aruba. Panafruit aims to exceed 200 containers by 2024. Each container holds 1,200 boxes, each weighing 35 pounds.

Hormoz Safi, the owner of Panafruit, emphasized the company's focus on fruit safety for international markets. Roberto Linares, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MIDA), noted that the company generates around 600 jobs, supporting the Chiriquí economy. Panafruit employs a quality protocol involving hot water treatment and cold storage for export fruits. On its 110 hectares, the company also cultivates chayote and squash, ensuring product quality for international markets.
