AGF Monitor compares weekly online price trends for various fruits and vegetables at six supermarkets: Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, Dirk, Vomar, and Hoogvliet. Up to and including week 19, these included avocados, cauliflower, Galia melons, oranges, cucumbers, and vine tomatoes. From week 20 onwards, avocados, cauliflower, Galia melons, and oranges will be replaced by blueberries, broccoli, mangoes, and strawberries. Cucumbers and vine tomatoes will continue to be monitored.
Prices are tracked by Supermarktscanner.nl and are recorded at the end of each week.
Broccoli

Broccoli is new to the AGF Monitor. Since January, prices have fluctuated between €1.45 and €1.20, with occasional promotional prices of €1. The price has remained stable since week 6. Notably, the availability of broccoli at Vomar is limited.
Blueberries (300 g)

Blueberries are clearly a promotional item and show a highly erratic price pattern, with large fluctuations. Prices range from €5.29 to €2.49 for a 300g pack. Availability is also inconsistent; all six supermarkets have periods when blueberries are not available online.
Mango

Until week 12, mangoes were primarily featured as a promotional product at Albert Heijn and Hoogvliet, with frequent offers. Since then, prices have remained fairly stable, between €1.75 and €2 per piece. In week 20, Albert Heijn and Jumbo brought mangoes back into the spotlight with new promotions.
Dutch strawberries (500g)

Except for Albert Heijn, Dutch strawberries have only been available online since week 15. Prices typically range from €2.50 to €5 per 500g pack.

In week 19, cucumber prices at national supermarkets rose by €0.10 to €0.95, and in week 20, prices dropped again by €0.10 to €0.85. Dirk and Hoogvliet offered promotional prices of €0.69 and €0.59 per cucumber, respectively.
Vine tomatoes 500g

In week 20, Dirk lowered the price of 500g of vine tomatoes by €0.10 to €1.19. The promotion at Albert Heijn ended, and the price returned to €1.35. Vomar reintroduced vine tomatoes to its online assortment.
Price and quality
Price data is sourced from Supermarktscanner.nl and reflects online prices at the webshops of Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, DekaMarkt, Dirk, and Hoogvliet. The prices represent averages, including promotional discounts. Origin and quality are not factored into this comparison. Most supermarkets do not specify this information online, though Hoogvliet and Jumbo do list the country of origin. As a result, this price comparison may reflect differences such as unripe vs. ripe avocados or Spanish vs. Dutch cucumbers.
Comments on the data
Vomar uses fixed prices online. Avocados have not been available in their online range since 2022, and Galia melons have also been unavailable since week 24. At Hoogvliet and Vomar, hand-cut oranges are sold in 1.5 kg units, with prices converted to reflect a 2 kg quantity. Jumbo only sells vine tomatoes in packs of five, rather than by 500g or 1kg. For comparison purposes, 100g per tomato is used.
