In a bid to stabilise mango prices and boost farmer income, Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has partnered with four major fuel companies, PTT, Bangchak, Susco, and PT, to distribute over 2,000 tons of high-quality mangoes from Chiang Mai and Lamphun provinces. From June 6-8, customers who refuelled with at least 300 baht at over 1,000 stations across Bangkok and surrounding provinces received 1 kg of "fancy mangoes" for free.
The initiative included premium varieties such as Jin Hong, Red Emperor, Red Ivory, and R2E2, all grown domestically. These mangoes were purchased directly from nine grower groups spanning six sub-districts in northern Thailand, ensuring fair pricing and prompt market clearance.
This program is part of the 2025 Fruit Management Measures under the Thai Fruits Festival campaign and marks a strategic public-private partnership aimed at tackling seasonal surplus. The Department of Internal Trade has signalled plans to expand similar campaigns to other fruit categories in the coming months.
