The white and red cabbage storage season is entering its final month. "The season has gone well so far. There was considerably less harvest at the end of 2024, and demand was strong. This resulted in good prices for cabbage from cold storage, although it's true that in recent weeks the price has dropped compared to previous months," says Martin Bolhuis of Tuindersbelang from Warmenhuizen, which organises sales for around 60 cabbage growers.
"The cabbage still in cold storage as of 1 July is also below normal levels, and most growers are already sold out, so availability is a bit tighter than in recent times. Prices are currently between 40 and 55 cents for white (Danish) cabbage and between 55 and 60 cents for red cabbage," says Martin.
"We've now started working with several growers on the new crop, and things are going well. We can once again deliver various sizes of fresh red, white, and pointed cabbage directly from the field in all our well-known Summum packaging. Prices for the new crop are available on request."
