Hak greens recalled in Canada over rubber contamination

Hak brand Boerenkool and Spinazie products have been recalled in Canada due to the presence of pieces of rubber in the affected items. The recall, issued by Custan Foods Ltd. and published by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), applies to four specific products distributed in Nova Scotia and Ontario.

The products involved in the recall include Hak Boerenkool in 340-gram packages with UPC 8720600608605 and 680-gram packages with UPC 8720600609824, as well as Hak Spinazie in 330-gram packages with UPC 8720600608940 and 630-gram packages with UPC 8720600609817. Each of these products has been marked with codes ranging from LG262 up to and including LG292.

The CFIA has classified this as a Class 3 recall, which is generally issued for products that present a low or no immediate health risk but must be removed to prevent potential harm. Consumers are advised not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products. Retailers have been directed to remove the products from their shelves, and any customers who have purchased these items are urged to dispose of them or return them to the point of purchase.

The CFIA has identified the recall under notification number RA-77450, with Canadian Food Inspection Agency ID 16557. The agency continues to monitor the situation and may take additional action if necessary. No reports of injuries or adverse reactions have been associated with the consumption of the recalled products so far.
