Khatlon region has exported over 250 tonnes of early-season agricultural products, including onions, cabbage, beets, and apricots, to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan via 15 truck shipments. The products meet international market standards.
In 2025, onions were planted across 9,400 hectares in Khatlon, with yields expected to reach up to 400 quintals per hectare. Domestic prices currently hover around 3 somoni per kilogram. The region is expanding its export geography, targeting markets in South and East Asia.
A second export phase has begun with 12 more trucks carrying over 200 tonnes of produce.
In Sughd region's Jabbor Rasulov district, more than 2,100 tonnes of early onions were stored as of May 10, largely supplied by Khatlon (notably from Shahrtuz, Jayhun, and Tursunzoda).
Local authorities have instructed officials to expand early onion exports, improve working conditions, and support agribusiness. In Mehrobod jamoat, a 1.17-hectare storage facility built in 2021 is actively used for packing and exporting onions to Russia. Over 6,000 tonnes are scheduled for shipment in May–June, with another 1,000 tonnes to be stored for winter sales in October–November.
Sughd currently operates nine major onion storage points, exporting also to Kazakhstan.
