Washington based Starr Ranch Growers is a third-generation family-owned company that has been involved in growing apples and cherries for more than 90 years. Fruit is grown in the company's own orchards, supplemented with fruit from outside growers.
Cherries
Just last month, FreshPlaza published an announcement regarding the partnership between Starr Ranch Growers and Meena Farms for their cherries. In Washington, Starr Ranch will continue to grow, sort and pack cherries, but starting this season, they will be brought to market by Meena Farms, a vertically integrated company, involved in growing cherries in California. Together, the two companies will be building programs for customers in North America and beyond. "We are excited about the export connection Meena has and we are looking forward to building a multi-regional platform, bringing high quality cherries to market," says Alex Guerra, Chief Operations Officer at Starr Ranch Growers.
Apples
In addition to the cherry partnership, Starr Ranch also announces they've come to an agreement with Honeybear Brands as a packing partner for their apples, effective immediately. Similar to the cherry side of things, Starr Ranch is responsible for growing the apples and their facilities will be used for sorting and packing. However, Honeybear Brands will bring the apples to market. "Honeybear has always had a strong presence in the domestic market, and we are looking forward to bringing high-quality apples to consumers across North America," Guerra said.
