Avo Connections 2025 sells out ahead of Brisbane event

The Australian avocado industry's annual forum, Avo Connections, will take place on Wednesday, 4 June 2024, from 9:15 am to 4:15 pm at the Brisbane Convention Centre. Held during the same week as Hort Connections, the event has reached full capacity for the second consecutive year. Registrations remain open, with late applicants placed on a waiting list.

Now in its fifth year, Avo Connections brings together Australian avocado growers, packers, exporters, and other stakeholders from across the supply chain. The program will feature a range of speakers, including trade specialists, marketers, and industry experts, with discussions focused on current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the avocado sector.

This year's agenda includes updates on the domestic and export markets, marketing initiatives, and the broader status of the Australian avocado industry. Speakers include Steven Marks, co-CEO and co-founder of Guzman y Gomez; Professor David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London; and Adam Ferrier, consumer psychologist and founder of Thinkerbell.

Additional contributors include representatives from Avocados Australia, Hort Innovation, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Fresh Intelligence Consulting, Freshlogic, Noon (a Saudi-based e-commerce platform), and the Shanghai Markets. The event aims to facilitate knowledge-sharing and provide a platform for industry collaboration.

Avo Connections 2024 is part of the National Horticulture Roadshow, which is delivered by the National Farmers' Federation Horticulture Council with funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) through the Showcasing Australian Horticulture Grant. The roadshow initiative seeks to promote innovation, foster industry connections, and share technological and market developments across Australia's horticulture sector.

Avocados Australia CEO John Tyas noted the significance of the event being part of the roadshow and the value of insights provided by the speakers. He emphasised the importance of market development and innovation for maintaining industry competitiveness.
