The Divino brand is mainly sold in supermarkets

"Italian persimmons will be available until the end of February"

If last season the sales campaign ended on 22 January, this year the company Gallicchio Frutta, creator and owner of the brand Divino – il kaki Italiano, plans to postpone the last shipments for about a month, thanks to an almost doubled availability of volumes, thanks to the entry of new partners from the southern regions and the beginning of the new production of young plants.

Francesca and Antonio Gallicchio

Francesca Gallicchio, the company's manager of the processing warehouse, has provided an update on the campaign's progress: "We are currently at 65% completion, with operations involving harvesting, dehulling, packing, and shipping of the fruit to Italy and Europe that never stop. On average, 32 to 35 pallets are being shipped daily, with occasional peaks of up to 40. We are currently using gauges ranging from 15 to 18. For the current campaign, we have 2,200 tons of product, compared to 1,300 tons a year ago. This increase in volume allows us to expand supplies to the seven supermarket chains that are still our customers. Unless there is such a high demand that it leads to a rapid decumulation of stocks in the cellar, the season will continue until the end of February, when prices could undergo interesting variations. Consequently, we will not conclude the season earlier than planned. Our ability to guarantee availability for nearly five months of the year is a key factor in our client's preference for our products. We still have whole batches of persimmons to harvest, which are not yet at their optimal ripeness, due to the implementation of post-harvest techniques and the generally favorable weather conditions."

Processing line - Warehouse located in Scanzano Jonico (province of Matera, Basilicata region)

The Divino - il kaki Italiano™ brand was developed to extend the harvesting and marketing schedule to ensure fair compensation for local producers and maintain ample supplies for consumers.

More than half of the Divino-branded persimmons are sold in supermarkets. However, as Gallicchio points out, "general markets are also demanding a significant volume of merchandise. For instance, in the Fasano market alone (in Apulia), we dispatch 13 pallets per week. High-volume persimmon consumption is also recorded in cities such as Bari, Andria, Lecce, Taranto, Catania, Turin, Rimini, Fondi, and more. Internationally, we have a presence in Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Lithuania."
