Ukrainian yellow onion prices surge on low stocks and high demand

Ukrainian producers have raised yellow onion prices, influenced by dwindling farm stocks and increased wholesale demand, as reported by EastFruit analysts.

Current market data from EastFruit shows Ukrainian farmers pricing yellow onions between 14–20 UAH/kg ($0.34–$0.49/kg), marking a 55% increase compared to the previous week. Despite rising prices, onion demand grows due to a shortage of high-quality supply. Most farms have depleted stocks, and those with remaining volumes have paused sales, intensifying panic buying and price hikes.

Onion prices in Ukraine are now 59% higher than the previous year. Market participants anticipate that this trend will persist until the new season's harvest enters the market.
