TGD Cuts, based in Jessup, Maryland, announced on June 4, 2025, a voluntary recall of specific food items due to potential contamination with Salmonella. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also published the recall on the same date. The recall involves food and beverage products sold under multiple brand names and includes fresh cucumbers, as well as salsa and salads that contain fresh cucumbers.
The recalled products include specific tub and tray items with use-by dates ranging from May 20 to May 28, 2025. These products were distributed to retail and foodservice locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and North Carolina. The open field cucumbers used in these items were sourced from Bedner Growers Inc., which has been linked to potential Salmonella contamination.
Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. In healthy individuals, symptoms typically include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can enter the bloodstream, leading to severe conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis.
As of the date of the announcement, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled items. Furthermore, the affected products are now beyond their usable shelf life and are not expected to be available in commerce.
TGD Cuts stated that it takes the safety and integrity of its products seriously. Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled items should discard them immediately or return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
