Ukraine has once again been hit by unexpected frosts, causing significant damage to crops across the country. Unlike the previous cold snap, which mainly affected stone fruits like cherries and apricots, this time, vegetables and berries have also been severely impacted, especially tomatoes and strawberries.
Farmers from various regions are voicing their frustrations on social media about the loss of their tomato and other vegetable crops. They are sharing footage of plants destroyed by the frost and expressing their dismay over lost efforts and income, showing blackened tomato plants and wilted leaves.
One farmer from the Lviv region filmed his strawberry field, visibly damaged during peak bloom. "They promised +3°C, but it's -1°C. Everything that wasn't covered is ruined, with large areas of blooming plants affected," the farmer comments, pointing to extensive frost damage.
Some growers remain hopeful that their crops might recover, at least partially, if the roots weren't affected. However, for many, the damage means a total loss of yield.
