Brazil and China strengthen cooperation to boost fresh fruit trade

During an official mission to China, the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Fruit Product Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas) took a fundamental step towards expanding the Brazilian fruit market in Asia. Its president, Guilherme Coelho, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Beijing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fresh fruit sector.

The agreement was reached within the framework of the Brazil-China Dialogue on Food Security, held on Wednesday, May 14, and lays the foundations for closer collaboration between the two countries in sustainable development, improving technical capacities, and expanding trade ties.

"This signing is a significant step forward in consolidating the presence of our fruits in China. We are paving the way for Brazilian grapes, melons, and other tropical fruits to reach Chinese consumers more strongly," Coelho stated after the signing.

Abrafrutas stressed that strategic alliances are essential to diversify destinations and generate new opportunities for Brazilian producers. China is emerging as one of the markets with the greatest growth potential for Brazil's fruit export sector.

The association said it was open to sharing more details about this initiative and its potential impact on fruit trade in the coming months.
