Uzbekistan plans to modernize potato sector with Hungarian support

A delegation from Uzbekistan visited Budapest for talks aimed at upgrading the country's potato farming sector, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The visit was part of the official trip of the President of Uzbekistan to Hungary. During the visit, Agriculture Minister Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov held meetings focused on expanding cooperation in agriculture.

One of the main events was a discussion with Professor Zsolt Polgar from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He is a well-known international expert in potato farming. The two sides talked about launching new projects in Uzbekistan, including the creation of a Potato Center, which would combine scientific research and practical farming experience.

The Uzbek delegation also met with representatives of Hungarian Potato Innovation LTD. They discussed several joint initiatives, such as growing elite potato varieties together, improving seed and breeding systems to meet international standards, and possibly launching a "Potato Corporation" in Uzbekistan.

Both sides agreed that using Hungarian technologies and experience could help make Uzbekistan's potato sector more efficient and stable.
