Indian market opens to Brazilian citrus

The Brazilian Government and the Government of India have concluded negotiations to allow Brazil to export five citrus products to that country: Tahiti lime (Citrus latifolia), Sicilian lime (Citrus limon), sweet orange (Citrus sinensis), mandarin and similar (Citrus reticulata and Citrus deliciosa).

Since 2023, six other Brazilian products have gained access to the Indian market, including avocados.

India is the tenth largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products, with exports totalling more than $3 billion last year. The new openings for citrus are expected to increase trade relations and the list of higher value-added products for export.

Brazil has opened 55 markets this year, totalling 355 new business opportunities since the start of 2023.

These new market openings are the result of coordinated action between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
