Wholesale banana prices UK - week 21:

Colombian banana prices up 5%, Costa Rica up 2%

This week's banana market data reveals slight price increases for exports from Colombia and Costa Rica. According to the current figures, the average price of Colombian bananas rose from £1.10 last week to £1.16 per kilogram. This marks a £0.06 increase, representing a 5% week-on-week rise.

Costa Rican bananas also saw a smaller upward shift in pricing. The average this week stands at £1.01 per kilogram, up from £0.99 the previous week. This change reflects a modest increase of £0.02, or approximately 2%.

For all other listed countries, including major exporters like Ecuador and Mexico, the average banana prices remain unchanged from the previous week, or the data is unavailable. The broader category of banana imports from Dollar zone countries shows a 4% average increase, while the overall average across all country groups has risen by 3% from £1.04 to £1.07 per kilogram.
