Grape Tree recalls macadamias over E. coli contamination

Grape Tree has issued a recall of its Raw Unsalted Macadamia Nuts due to contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The affected product is sold in 250g packs with the batch code G41 5 101 250610 and a best-before date of 11 July 2026.

The recall applies specifically to products sold in England, Scotland, and Wales. STEC can cause serious health issues, including severe diarrhoea, sometimes bloody, abdominal pain, and in some cases, haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a potentially fatal condition that can lead to kidney failure.

Grape Tree is taking action by removing the affected product from sale and issuing point-of-sale notices in stores. These notices inform customers about the recall and advise them on the steps to take if they have purchased the product.
