Brazil orange contracts delayed after forecast

After Fundecitrus released the May estimate of orange production at 314.6 million 40.8-kg boxes, expectations shifted for future contract definitions between industry and producers for 2025/26 fruit deliveries. However, agreements are likely to be finalized only starting mid-June.

The concentration of production in the second blossoming phase suggests intensified harvesting, possibly commencing after July. As a result, the industry currently receives limited fruit volumes, which relate to previous contracts or are transacted on the spot market. Consequently, orange prices delivered to industry saw minor fluctuations in May.

Market players report that oranges delivered to the industry exhibit improved quality, indicating a reduced volume requirement for juice production. This outlook is generally attributed to favorable weather conditions.
