Odisha's advancement as an agri-export hub has expanded with new mango export destinations, including France and Belgium. This development reflects the state's ongoing efforts to access premium global markets, following shipments to Dubai, London, Birmingham, Rome, Venice, and Dublin.
In early June 2025, 13.4 metric tons of mangoes were shipped to London and Dubai, facilitated by Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) such as Saptasajya Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Dharitree Agro Plus Company Ltd., Kankadahad Farmer Producer Company Ltd., and Sugandha Farmer Producer Company Ltd.
Odisha's agricultural export approach has seen nearly 100 MT since May 2024, with a strong focus on mango varieties like Amrapalli and Dashehari. Recent exports to France and Belgium highlight Odisha's expanding trade activities.
The Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment (DA&FE) in Odisha has driven this export growth, assisted by Palladium India as the Technical Support Unit for the marketing element of the Promotion and Stabilization of Farmer Producer Organizations (PSFPO) Project. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supports the initiative, implemented alongside NABARD and with APEDA as the export partner.
Palladium's role involves identifying markets, ensuring compliance with global standards, handling logistics, and preparing FPOs for export readiness across Odisha.
Exporting directly to international markets has resulted in 40–60% higher prices for Odisha mango farmers. FPO-based aggregation combined with enhanced post-harvest management and compliance has improved earnings and increased market confidence for farmers.
Odisha has accessed seven international markets in 2024–25 and exceeded this target in early 2025–26, regarding new markets and total export volume, showing continuous government-backed efforts to turn the state into a national leader in agri-exports.
Deputy Director of Horticulture (Dhenkanal), Ms. Gitashree Padhi, commented, "The global acceptance of Odisha mangoes in markets like France and Belgium reflects the potential of our farmers and the strength of our horticultural ecosystem. This milestone is a proud moment for Dhenkanal and the state."
Farmer Subhashini Charter from Kankadahad FPCL expressed, "We never imagined our mangoes would reach France. This opportunity has brought better income and immense pride to our village. We thank the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment and Palladium for guiding us through this journey."
