Uva Brunetti is the new brand of seedless Sicilian grapes

Seedless grapes? Better if super early and Italian

"The history of our company, which is located near Gela, dates back to the early 1900s, when it only covered small plots of land. A crucial moment was when we decided to take on a new challenge in 2015 by entering the seedless table grape market, as we realised the potential of this segment," reported Angelo Brunetti, co-owner of the farm, which now covers 900 hectares, more than 150 of which are planted with table grapes.

The Uva Brunetti brand
"This journey will evolve further at the beginning of 2025 with the start of the direct marketing of a product of excellence. It is precisely for this reason that we have created the Uva Brunetti Seedless brand: a strategic choice that allows us to directly preside over the market, guaranteeing greater control over quality and distribution."

Uva Brunetti specialises in the production of very early seedless table grapes. It was the first company to introduce seedless grapes of European origin to the world market. Harvesting begins around 20 May (although ripening often takes place even earlier) and is over by the end of August. This earliness represents a significant competitive advantage, allowing the company to anticipate production from other geographical areas such as Egypt and Southern Europe, and to position itself in a super niche market. The main varieties cultivated include Arra 30, Arra 19, Arra 11, Millennium, Superior, Summer Royal, Timco, Flame, Autumn Crisp, Red Globe, and Victoria.

The reason for an extraordinary all-Sicilian earliness
"The proximity to the sea and Lake Biviere, a natural oasis rich in biodiversity, creates a microclimate particularly favourable to cultivation, which is enriched by sea winds and warm, dry air currents from inland. These conditions contribute to a high Brix degree between 16 and 18 (and above), and are synonymous with high organoleptic quality. Processing and packaging will begin by mid-May 2025 in a 2,000 sq m warehouse equipped with cold rooms and an automated line with 28 stations, including a state-of-the-art computerised optical sorter. This level of automation and advanced technology ensures a high-quality standard of the finished products."

As far as packaging is concerned, Uva Brunetti offers various solutions to meet customer needs, including heat-sealed trays, flow packs, trays with lids, and cardboard and plastic crates in various formats. The company is strongly committed to quality and sustainability, as evidenced by the GlobalGAP and GRASP (soon to be IFS) certifications.

Looking to the future, Uva Brunetti has ambitious targets, which include increasing the areas dedicated to table grapes, must and olive groves, increasing the production of wine and oil, and an interesting project for planting citrus fruits, currently under development.

Production schedule for 2025

The company currently covers 900 hectares, 500 of which are already dedicated to arable land, olive groves, and must grapes.

Uva Brunetti will attend Macfrut 2025, from 6 to 8 May, at the stand of the Sicily Region: D3 107 -147
