Heavy rainfall in Kolar district, India, has impacted approximately 304 hectares of farmland. Mango plantations account for 200 hectares, while the remaining 104 hectares involve various horticultural crops. Precipitation has affected recognized cultivations, notably the region's acclaimed mangoes and bananas.
In the outskirts near Basavanatta, farmer Vijay Kumar's 1.5-acre cabbage plantation was completely lost. Following a brief relief from rainfall, farmers observed their devastated crops, initiating calls for compensation. "They are now demanding adequate compensation for the losses," as stated by officials.
Horticulture department representatives communicated these reports to district administration, indicating crop damage worth approximately $145,000. The administration has vowed to implement measures for compensating impacted growers, based on detailed assessments by the department.
