This week, the Ukrainian market has continued to see a downward trend in greenhouse cucumber prices, according to analysts from the EastFruit project. Experts attribute the latest price drop at the beginning of June to a traditional seasonal pattern, caused by the increasing supply of vegetables from summer greenhouses.
As of today, Ukrainian greenhouse producers are primarily selling cucumbers at prices ranging from UAH 30–55/kg (€0.72–1.33/kg), depending on the variety and volume of the lot. This is, on average, 21% cheaper than the previous week. Analysts note that the decrease is driven by a seasonal rise in supply from local farms.
One positive for Ukrainian producers is that the price drop has coincided with the final days of marketing cucumbers from the first crop rotation. Currently, greenhouses are undergoing cleaning, and growers plan to begin selling cucumbers from the second crop rotation in the second half of the summer.
Despite the recent decline, cucumbers are still being sold at prices that are, on average, 37% higher than in early June 2024.
