British apple supermarket sales data - May 2025

Tesco leads UK supermarkets in British apple sales

A recent update from British Apple & Pear growers provides monthly data on the volume of British apples sold through UK supermarkets. The figures offer insight into how major retailers support domestic apple producers.

Tesco leads the charge this month, with Aldi not far behind as they take top and second spot respectively. Coming in at third is Sainsburys, followed by Lidl on 4th, and M&S on 5th.

The analysis also compares each retailer's share of British apple sales with their total grocery market share. In theory, these shares should align, but the data reveals notable differences, with some supermarkets selling significantly more British apples relative to their size, while others lag.
