The Mousquetaires/Intermarché group has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire 81 Colruyt supermarkets in France (located in eastern and central-eastern France). The takeover should be effective by 2026.
For its part, the Belgian Colruyt group has announced that Mousquetaires/Intermarché has agreed to buy 81 shops for €215 million [248.4 million USD].
With this proposed acquisition, the group aims to "strengthen the positions of Intermarché and Netto in France, to achieve a 20% market share by 2028."
"Once this agreement is finalized, the group will make sure that the 1,300 employees are properly integrated. The employees would benefit from the collective agreements of Colruyt Retail France SAS for a period of 15 months from the effective date of the transfer of staff to Intermarché and Netto. In addition, the group would offer 175 open-ended contract positions to employees at Colruyt Retail France SAS logistics bases not included in the scope of the offer, to join its bases in Dôle du Jura and Pagny-sur-Meuse," according to the press release.
